COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Updates
The Woodlands Township is providing updates on COVID-19 in Montgomery County, Harris County and in our Township. To sign up for email alerts, please follow this link to The Woodlands Township website. We hope you find these COVID-19 resources helpful as we work together to slow the spread of this virus. By practicing social distancing, staying home and encouraging others to do the same, we protect ourselves and those most vulnerable to the virus.
Local Leader, Mike Bass, Honored
Influential community figure Mike Bass, a former township board member and lover of the arts in The Woodlands, died recently. Bass, who was the Position 2 member of The Woodlands Township Board of Directors for four years from 2012 through 2016, was remembered fondly at the GMVA's online meeting Monday. The Grogan's Mill Village Association voted to honor Mike Bass's leadership and dedication to The Woodlands, by donating $5,000 to the Interfaith food pantry. Bruce Cunningham, GMVA board member, said, "We feel that Mike Bass would be pleased with a donation to the community food pantry at a time like right now, when so many families are reaching out for help."
Food Banks—How You Can Help
Local food banks are inventorying their resources to ascertain what will be needed in the days to come. Many Township residents have expressed a desire to volunteer or donate; please see the information below regarding those needs.
Interfaith of The Woodlands remains open to meet the basic needs in South Montgomery County, including Senior Grocery Delivery, Crisis Assistance Services and Food Pantry Assistance. Hours are Tuesday and Thursday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Curbside services are by phone at 281-367-1230. Donations are being accepted. Please read on to learn how you can lend support to Interfaith.
Montgomery County Food Bank is conducting a virtual food drive. Please read on to learn how you can help.
Meals on Wheels has coordinated a food drive to stock the shelves . A system in place to deliver supplies to the most at-risk neighbors, but they need your help to provide the food… because no one deserves to have an empty pantry, especially at times like this. During these times of uncertainty, food insecurity is at an all-time high. An increasing number of seniors are becoming homebound, as the fear of going out and being exposed to COVID-19 continues. Join the virtual food drive.
Community Assistance Center Serving Montgomery County is currently providing assistance to residents of Montgomery County with financial assistance for utilities, pre-packaged bags of groceries during Wednesday Markets and is accepting donations. For more information view the flyer .
Do you Need your Groceries or Medicines Picked up?
There is a new free service run by volunteers that can do it for you if you are over 60 or have other chronic conditions. You pay for your groceries or medicines and then contact www.findahelper.org or use their Facebook page. You will find a form on which you place your request, you are contacted by a volunteer who confirms details and drop off and it's done. You can also contact them by phone at 832-764-1467.
GMVA Community Contributor Award
Dawn Keating, a local small business owner, is the first recipient of the GMVA Community Contributor Award. Dawn has stepped in as daughter and caregiver for 4 years, to a lady who is elderly and had no family to help. The lady attended Pilates classes with Dawn for many years, at the studio in our village center, Healthy Life Unlimited Pilates Studio. Then, as she aged, she needed to leave her home. Dawn arranged to get her home fixed up to sell, found her assisted living and moved her there.
Dawn's faithfulness did not stop there. Recently, the lady fell and broke her hip. Dawn has had her moved once again to a rehab facility and is assisting her with that difficult transition and recovery. When asked why she works so hard for someone she is not related to, Dawn said, “If not me, then who? She has no family and because everyone needs someone. I adopted a grandma.”
We hope you will join us in congratulating Dawn Keating on her award and recognizing her selfless contribution to our community to make it a better place to live together.

We are committed to the safety and well-being of our volunteers that make this program a success year after year, so we made the hard decision to cancel for 2020. TWFM Closed through April 30, 2020
The Woodlands Farmers Market will be CLOSED through April 30, 2020.

There are two ways The Woodlands Farmer's Market can help you get in touch with your favorite vendor.

Check here to see what your favorite vendors are doing to get their products out to customers.
2) TWFM Website
We have listed all vendors with links to their websites. Vendors are listed in alphabetical order. If you do not know the name of the vendor that you are looking for, please reply to this email and Jennifer will do her best to help you locate the vendor.
