To serve as a liaison to the residents of Grogan's Mill Village and The Woodlands Township and other governmental entities for the purpose of enhancing the quality of life of the residents of the Village of Grogan's Mill. Establish communication through proactive leadership.
Katia Arango moved to the Woodlands in 2016 prior to living in 4 other states – Montana, New York, California and Illinois. Educational opportunities and an exciting business corporate career of 20 years led to so many relocations until she finally settled in the Woodlands, TX to start a family. Her son, 6 and daughter, 2, were born in the Woodlands and therefore Katia’s passion for serving on the GMVA board is primarily focused on initiatives serving families with small children such as family events and recreation. Overall, Katia is passionate about building stronger communities and has had several success projects locally in the Woodlands, TX culminating in newly founded LocalUS which connects local businesses with local users through a phone app.
Katia enjoys traveling, bike rides, wild mushroom foraging, playing piano, singing, being outdoors camping.
Sara Bissig has been a member of the GMVA board since 2011. Sara owns a small business that provides eco-friendly transportation in the Woodlands - Go Green Eco Taxi Inc. She is a graduate of Kent State University in Ohio, but has been happily planted in Texas since 1989. She has lived in Grogans Mill Village since 1994, and has raised 2 daughters here. Sara loves animals, nature, music, reading and traveling.
Bella Cruz moved to the Woodlands in 2013. She relocated her business from Las Vegas, NV. After much research, she knew immediately The Woodlands was where she wanted to live and work.
Bella Cruz recently joined the GMVA board in 2022. She has served and volunteered for various charitable organizations. She currently serves on the Law Enforcement Advisory, National Night Out and Yard of the Month for the association. Bella also serves on the Montgomery County Political Affairs Advisory Leadership. Bella Cruz began her career in real estate in 2003. With over 20 years of experience, she is one of the leading trusted realtors specializing in residential and commercial. Bella has worked as a real estate agent, developer, mortgage advisor, and a real estate investor. Bella enjoys comedy shows, boxing bouts, golf and classic cars.
Wes Cordova is a long-time resident and the owner of the Blue Lion Pub in the shopping center.
Bruce Cunningham was a member of the GMVA Board 2000-2024. He had previously served as its president for seven terms. He is a founding member of the GMVA's Farmers Market Committee. Bruce has served with the Parks and Recreation Council, Woodlands Watch, Governance Committee, RDRC, The Woodlands CERT and and other community organizations. He served as President of MUD 6 and Aging in Place -The Woodlands. In 2016 he was named a Woodlands Home Town Hero. Bruce worked as an entrepreneur and management consultant and enjoyed working out, bicycling, reading, travel, theatre, cooking and wines.
Emily Hoppel has lived in Grogan's Mill since 2013, and in the greater Houston area since 2000. In 2018 Emily was first elected to the GMVA Board and has served as Vice President, School Liaison, and Shopping Center Liaison, with intermittent help with the Farmer's Market committee. She resides with her husband, a firefighter, and their blended 3 children aged 14, 14, and 7. Emily is passionate about recycling and sustainability, as well as actively supporting public schools. Professionally Emily is a Licensed Customs Broker working in Global Trade Compliance for a premier chemical company in The Woodlands. She is an alumnus of Michigan State University.
Mitzi Fredrick joined the GMVA board in 2012. She enjoys working with the other board members to help improve Grogan's Mill Village. Mitzi is currently on the Scholarship Committee and leads the Sunshine and Adopt-a-Path Committees.
Mitzi and her family moved to Grogan's Mill in 1989 and truly love the village. Mitzi is a retired teacher and paralegal. She loves to spend time with her three wonderful granddaughters. Mitzi is a member of the Woodlands League of Women Voters and has volunteered during several local campaigns. The Fredricks are also known for their holiday decorations that they put up on Starviolet Street each year.
Pat Goodpastor has been on the GMVA Board since 1996, serving as President in 1997 and 1998. Pat is a member of The Woodlands Farmer's Market Committee. Pat served 6 years as a WCA director. She has lived in Grogan's Mill Village for 39 years and has raised two children in Grogan's Mill. She is a 1997 graduate of Leadership Montgomery County and retired from Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Hospital where she was the Assistant Vice President of Patient Services for 21 years. She was elected Director to MUD 6 in May 2024.
Aaron Hoffstadter has been an Area Representative since 2020.
