Water Conservation in The Woodlands

The Woodlands residents and leadership have been leaders in enacting strategies to conserve water. The graph shows that, even with a growing number of residents, the use of water has declined.

Residents have reduced water use by becoming informed about correct watering of plants and grasses via the Defined Irrigation Schedule, using the Woodlands Water W.I.S.E. Guys to tune up their sprinkler systems, and planting varieties of foliage that require less water.
The township has reduced water use in parks and public places by about 9 million gallons a year.
All of these efforts by residents of The Woodlands have reduced the need for ground water pumping and will have a positive impact in the fight against subsidence.

News from Your MUD

The comment period for Public Comments on the GMA-14 Desired Future Conditions proposal continues through July 19,2021. It is important for everyone to send in a written comment that states” I want the approved final DFC to include a 1.0 average subsidence metric”. This simple sentence is important to the residents of Grogan’s Mill. Send e-mail to sreiter@lonestargcd.org with “DFC Public Comment” in the subject line.

The SJRA has submitted a FY 2022 Woodlands Division Budget to the MUD’s. It includes a 5% increase in water and sewer rates. Not all MUD’s will pass this increase onto their residents. MUD 36 will.
