August Yard of the Month Winners Announced
Steve and Linda Verhaven are proud to call The Woodlands home, since 1988. When they bought their first house in Panther Creek, prior to locating in Autumnwood Village of Grogan's Mill in November of 1995. Since the move, Linda said, it has been her mission to improve her yard each year, "Spring is always fun, but summers can be a test." Linda said, "I want to thank the person who nominated us for this honor and the Grogan's Mill committee which acted on it. Linda expressed her thanks.

Local Election, Nov. 7
Elections for The Woodlands Township Board of Directors will be held on November 7, 2023. The three at-large positions that will be elected are designated as positions 5, 6, and 7. Each position is for a two-year term. The Township anticipates contracting with Harris County and Montgomery County to conduct the election and to use the regular county polling locations for the election.

The Woodlands Farmer's Market
At the August 17th public meeting, the Woodlands Township honored The Woodlands Farmer's Market by proclaiming August 6-12, Farmer's Market Week.
The Woodlands Farmer's Market, which is sponsored and operated by the Grogan's Mill Village Association, was founded in 2008 by Bruce Cunningham, Dana Denton, and Pat Goodpastor. The market provides residents with a place to gather with friends and family, enjoy live music, and shop for a variety of produce, meat, prepared foods, and artisan goods. All proceeds from The Woodlands Farmer's Market are returned to the community through the Grogan's Mill Village Association's philanthropic efforts.

Aging in Place - The Woodlands

Aging In Place- The Woodlands was founded by the GMVA in 2016. The organization is founded on the principle of 'neighbors helping neighbors' with the objective of helping people live in their homes for longer periods of time. It is one of more than 200 organizations in the country associated with the Village to Village Network. It provides transportation services, help with minor home repairs and upkeep, and information that can help seniors find the services they need. In 2017 the organization expanded to the rest of the Woodlands. Aging in Place has monthly socials including lunches and visits to the CW Mitchell Pavilion. It publishes a monthly newsletter and has an extensive list of services provided to seniors.
AIP is always looking for new members which include those people who need services and those who would like to help by providing services such as drivers, handymen, and call managers who coordinate activities. To find out more call 281-845-4441 or visit their website at aiptwtx.org.
September is Library Card Sign-Up Month
September is Library Card Sign-up Month, a time when the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries nationwide join together to remind parents, caregivers and students that signing up for a library card is the first step towards academic achievement and lifelong learning (ALA.org).
The GMVA is excited to partner with the Montgomery County South Regional Library, who will be signing up new library card users at The Woodlands Farmer's Market on September 16 and September 23.
The Woodlands Farmer's Market
Shopping at The Woodlands Farmer's Market is a great way to support local businesses and your community. Proceeds from the market fund scholarships for local students, support local schools and support the local food bank.
The market is open every Saturday. Come on out and join your neighbors at the market! It is a great place to sample local products and find unique gifts for the special people in your life.
And check out the businesses in the Grogan's Mill Shopping Center. The UPS Store can help you with all your shipping needs without standing in a long line.
The Woodlands Farmer's Market is open every Saturday from 9am to noon, during September. We will return to our regular 9am to 1pm hours in October.
