TONIGHT: Public Meeting to Discuss
the Spring Creek Flood Control Dams
The San Jacinto River Authority (SJRA) will hold a public meeting to discuss the Spring Creek Flood Control Dams Feasibility Study
The Project is a continuation of the Spring Creek Siting Study, a sub-task of the San Jacinto Regional Watershed Master Drainage Plan project (SJMDP) led by Harris County Flood Control District (HCFCD) and supported by multiple partner agencies including the San Jacinto River Authority (SJRA). The Spring Creek Siting Study explored multiple alternative projects and detention siting locations to provide flood mitigation benefits to the Spring Creek watershed. Two of the more cost-effective alternatives identified by the SJMDP were dams on Walnut Creek and Birch Creek. The Spring Creek Flood Control Dams Feasibility Study is planned to include a conceptual-level design for each of the two dams, as well as definition of benefits and costs for each dam and a combination of the two dams. The outcome of this study will allow project sponsors to determine the most feasible and economical alternative(s) for possible future design and construction. The Project is being funded by the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB), Harris County Flood Control District, City of Humble, and five (5) Municipal Utility Districts, with in-kind services being provided by SJRA.
What: Spring Creek Flood Control Dams Feasibility Study
When: Tuesday, May 2, 2023 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Where: The Woodlands Township, located at 2801 Technology Forest Blvd., The Woodlands, Texas 77381.
The meeting will be in an open-house format, allowing members of the public to come and go at their convenience at any time between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. A short, high-level project summary presentation will be given at 6:00 p.m., 6:30 p.m., 7:00 p.m., and 7:30 p.m. Members of the project team will be available between these presentations to collect input and answer questions from members of the public.

Nominate Someone for Yard of the Month
Our Yard of the Month program is in full swing and we need your help to identify award-winning yards. The GMVA prefers to award houses where the homeowner does all or most of the yard work themselves. The winner will receive a $50 gift certificate to The Woodlands Farmer's Market and be announced on our social media and in this newsletter. Don't be shy! You can nominate a neighbor or even your own yard. Let us hear from you. Please email your nomination to bellacruzsoldit@gmail.com by the 26th of each month.
Celebrating Moms at the Market
