Aging in Place

In the GMVA’s May meeting, we had a special presentation from Robyn West who is the President of the Board of Directors for Aging in Place The Woodlands (AIPTW).  The GMVA donated $2500 to the organization in honor of Bruce Cunningham who served 20 years on the GMVA and co-founded AIPTW.  AIPTW is an incredible organization committed to supporting residents of The Woodlands who choose to age independently in their homes and communities.  Volunteers are always needed.  For more information, please visit www.aiptxtw.org.

May Yard of the Month Winner

Red and Shirley Le Sage came to The Woodlands in 1974 when a trailer on Woodlands Parkway was used as the information center before the official opening that fall.  They thought this would be a great place to raise their children, now ages 53 and 51.
“Our home was built and we moved in, September 1975.  We are still in our “starter” home.  Needless to say, we’ve seen many changes and made so many dear friends over the past years.  Red is still working here in The Woodlands, and I am enjoying working in my garden.  I don’t think we could have made a better decision than the one we made years ago!”

Guidelines for GMVA Yard of the Month
1.) Preference: owner does some of the yard work him or herself (exceptions made).
2.) Property should be well kept (the area visible from the street).
3.) Obtain homeowners name, phone number and email address.
4.) Email your nomination to bellacruzsoldit@gmail.com by the 26th of the previous month. For example, for June nominations submit by May 25th.
5.) Winner will be awarded a $50.00 gift certificate to The Woodlands Farmers Market at Grogan's Mill. Winner will provide a brief bio and picture for the monthly newsletter.
6.) YOTM will run April - Oct

The Woodlands Farmers Market

Shopping at The Woodlands Farmer's Market is a great way to support local businesses and your community.  Proceeds from the market fund scholarships for local students, support local schools and support the local food bank.

The market is open every Saturday from 9am to 1pm. Come on out and join your neighbors at the market!  It is a great place to sample local products and find unique gifts for the special people in your life.

And check out the businesses in the Grogan's Mill Shopping Center.  The UPS Store can help you with all your shipping needs without standing in a long line.

Vendors are listed every Friday in the weekly TWFM newsletter so you can plan your Saturday shopping.  If you are not a subscriber, you can sign up here.
